Dare Kumolu-Johnson is originally from Lagos, Nigeria, and has lived in the Triangle since November 2002. He first lived in Baltimore, Maryland, where he went to college at Morgan State University, where he earned a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science, graduating with Magna Cum Laude. He then received a job offer to work as a Software Engineer at IBM in RTP. His acceptance of the job offer prompted him to move to North Carolina. He worked with IBM as a Software Developer & Tester until February 2012.

While working as an Engineer, he reignited his interest in Photography. He bought a DSLR camera on Black Friday, 2010, and began taking more professional photos than he had before.

He had always been interested in Photography and was the only student who captured several images of his classmates in his senior year of high school in Nigeria. However, as a Nigerian, back then, becoming a professional photographer was hardly a choice, especially when your parents were a biochemist & engineer. You had to be a doctor, a lawyer, or an engineer. Hence, he became an Engineer. Nonetheless, by 2010, he found his way back to his love of Photography.

Since then, he taught himself Photography and has shot weddings, documentary assignments, events & portraits in several states in the United States and beyond. His day-to-day visual storytelling focuses on capturing events, especially Weddings, creating Portraits for families, individuals & businesses, and telling stories in the Triangle and far beyond - Canada, Turks & Caicos, Jamaica, Mexico, Canada, Nigeria, among other countries.

In addition to photography, he is a high school educator in Durham. He has taught Photography, Math and currently teaches Professional Development.
